Jeffery A. Tocchio

Jeffery Tocchio represents clients in matters involving real property development and land use with specific emphasis on the areas of project permitting, real estate and eminent domain litigation and sophisticated real estate leases and transactions.

Jeff graduated from Suffolk University Law School in 1988 and practiced as a trial lawyer at Gaston & Snow in Boston .  He served as Assistant Attorney General, Civil Trial Division, and as Special Assistant Attorney General, appointed to represent the Commonwealth in eminent domain and real property trials including takings relating to Boston ’s “Big Dig”.  He has tried more than fifty civil jury cases before the Superior Court of the Commonwealth.  Jeff has extensive experience working with client landowners, their development experts and municipal boards, concerning the development and permitting of a wide array of projects including single-family homes, subdivisions, marinas, automobile dealerships, affordable housing, office buildings, retail stores, restaurants and 18 hole championship golf courses.

Jeff is a former Conservation Commissioner for the Town of Hingham and is the Chairman of the Hingham Business Council of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.  He has presented eminent domain trial practice lectures to the Greater Boston Board of Real Estate Appraisers, the City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association, and the Massachusetts Board of Real Estate Appraisers.  He is a former Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education faculty lecturer of “Trial of an Eminent Domain Case”, and is certified by the Federal Highway Administration in Right of Way Appraisal.  He is a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, the City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association and the Boston Bar Association.
